All it takes to start a Good News Club is a little vision and core group of people who love God and want to share His love with children.
1. Pray. Pray. And pray some more.
- Gather together with like minded people from your church or other churches in the community and pray specifically for the elementary school near your church. Pray that God will lead the right people to volunteer. Pray that the administration will not put any road blocks in the path of the GNC. Pray that God will reveal His perfect timing on when to actually start the GNC. Contact Moms in Prayer International to see if there are any mothers praying for your particular school. Consider joining with them in prayer or at least sharing with them your desire to start the after school Bible club.
2. Contact
- When you are certain that God is calling you to help lead or start a Good News Club in your area, please contact one of our staff missionaries. They will be happy to walk you through the process of starting a GNC. Typically it may take anywhere from two to three months to start a new Good News Club. This is because there will be a lot of preparation involved before the GNC ever begins to ensure that it is successful and will be long lasting.
3. Train
- Our missionaries will share with you and your team all of the required training needed to start your Good News Club. Our training is a proven method of preparing and equipping teams of adults to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ in an age appropriate and effective way. We tell people regularly that we will teach you a more effective way to share God's word with children not an easier way. But we always guarantee that if your team puts in the time and effort to make the GNC successful they will see the lives of children and families changed.
4. Advertise and Report
- As the time draws near for the first day of your Good News Club we want you to advertise to your church families, your community and any other churches in your area that the GNC is starting soon and how to get involved. Many of the children who attend your club at the beginning will likely be connected with your church or other churches. But their participation will draw in more children as word spreads that something different and exciting is happening once a week at their school. It won't be long before children who do not have any connection with a church start to show up and then watch God really work! As your GNC continues, tell others about the great things that are happening in your club. Ask your pastor for time to share with the congregation about how the club is changing the lives of children and the volunteers. Encourage others to join your team or come by and visit so they can see for themselves what God is doing.
